MANUFACTURING METHODS

This is the most important stage! There would be no sense in buying the highest quality of materials and waste them because of poor or average workmanship. The production of fine leather gloves is purely handwork; the use machines can only be an aid. We have gloves which are purely hand made..

Let's look at the cutting of gloves, which is a very slow process:
The cutters generally manage only around 30-35 pairs per day because of the difficulties involved, individual materials which have natural flaws and must be treated individually during the process. One has to stretch the leather in a very special way, measure to a certain size inside the glove (the size in inches + one inch for tailoring) to make the fitting perfect. This special knowledge is the reason why it takes 3-4 years to learn this profession in a proper way.

Nowadays skilful cutters are very rare. They can be found mainly in Europe and specially in Hungary (where our factory is), where the skills and methods of the old glove masters are still intact. Most manufacturers use machine cutting techniques mainly for cost reasons (depending on the material and quality claims, it can produce 60 to 500 pairs per day per each cutter).

The resulting quality does not meet our minimum required standards. The sewing is demanding with such smooth material. To sew at least 16 individual parts (in many articles more than 20) of one pair of gloves in a very beautiful and lasting way is not simple! Especially the pique seam (also known as step seam) and hand sewn are very difficult seam types but also the most beautiful. It's not easy to find beautifully sewed pique seams in the markets nowadays. However, this is one of the hallmarks of our gloves.

When talking of such high quality and designer collections such as ours, the embroidery work is crucial because this process will give the final touch to the gloves.

Very smooth leather has to be decorated with beautiful, small details in a very accurate way; one simple mistake can cause rejection of the glove. It is indeed very skilled and demanding work..
